The My Tech Guys family has grown a little more. We are happy to introduce, Brian Bailey aka "B2" our newest geek. Brian is our newest road technician, who has recently returned back to the Comox Valley from across the pond at London, England.
B2 is another one of those geeks that love all things tech. B2 loves working with the Windows OS, but is keen to start learning more about the Apple software and products. He is also an avid sports enthusiast, playing Dodgeball, Ultima Frisbee, among other sports. He loves meeting new people and taking the time to get an know you.
Brian is currently getting all geeked up with his training, but should be ready to come out to your home in a few weeks.
Welcome to the team, B2 |

Ringtone Designer is an easy to use free app that allows you to make ringtones, text tones and alerts using the songs on your iPhone.
I have found this app extremely easy to use when creating the tones. It walks you through the selection processes nicely.
Creating the Ringtone
- The first step is to pick the song from your Music library on the iPhone.
- Then you select Ringtone or Text tone
- You can adjust the length of the tone from 6 seconds up to 30 seconds
- Once you have found the section of the song you want converted you click on the Save Disk icon on the bottom right corner.
Importing the Newly Created Ringtone into your Sounds option in Settings
- Plug your iPhone into your computer and open iTunes
- Select your iPhone
- Click on the Apps tab and at the bottom under File Sharing you will see the Ringtone Designer app
- Select the app and save the newly created tones to your computer
- Import the ringtones into iTunes and then add them to your iPhone
For an informative demo video that the designers made on how to load the ringtones click on the link below:

It's BACK, last year we had a very successful PC Cleaning Day at our Comox store. And are happy to be bringing it back.

On Thursday June 6th from 10:30 to 3 PM we will be dusting out all systems for FREE and completing a "complimentary system audit with recommendations".
"Last year, we had over a dozen people lined up even before we opened the store!" says Frank Biermann, Comox Sales Manager, "and are happy to accept donations to Y.A.N.A" |

Most of us are familiar with the little pop-ups we get asking us to install updates. While they only take a few minutes to complete, many of us are guilty of postponing them or just ignoring them completely. But keeping up with these computer updates is actually very important when it comes to having a healthy and secure computer. These updates are just as important as having an anti-virus program.
One of the biggest and most important reasons keeping up with computer updates is so important is the fact that they help to keep our computer secure. While they may not directly say so, a lot of these updates have to do with updating our security software a nd ensuring our computers are kept safe from any possible threats. Not updating or postponing these security updates can leave your computer vulnerable to things such as malware or computer viruses that can go in and steal important information.
Some of the most common updates are:
- Windows or Apple OS updates
- Java
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- Adobe Flash Player
- Microsoft Office
- Quick Time
- iTunes
If you have any questions or feel its been awhile since you've done any updates,
call us and book a service call or remote service call 250-338-4411 |
